Remembrance Day Wreath - Make Your Own

A great way for young children to appreciate the meaning of Remembrance Day.

Supplies:

- Construction paper (green and a variety of colors)
- Glue
- Scissors (safety scissors for younger children)
- Old magazines
- Paper, pens and pencils
- Red ribbon

Instructions:

Cut out a large wreath out of green construction paper.

Talk to your children about the war, what it must have felt like for the soliders, how children lived back then. Explain about food rationing and so on.

Then give each child construction paper, scissors, pens and pencils and let them get to work making a Remembrance Day collage of art. They can cut clippings from old magazines to represent the war and soliders. They can write their own ration menus, write letters about the soldiers, draw poppies and just anything that corresponds to this day.

Then take all the clippings and art work and past them on your Remembrance Day wreath, punch a small hole at the top of the wreath and loop a red ribbon through it.
