Make a Bird Feeder with Reused Items

Learning about birds on Earth Day is a great way to celebrate. Even better is creating bird feeders out of items you already have around the house. Instead of throwing them out, reuse them and learn about nature.

Here Are Some Easy Ideas to Put your Bird Feeders Together

  • Use an old plastic bottle. Poke holes, so birds can pull out seeds. Place a stick all the way through the bottle, so birds have somewhere to perch. Hang the feeder from a tree.

  • Use a simple pie or plastic plate to place birdseed. Poke drainage holes.

  • Find other old containers around the house and turn them into a feeder. Kids can paint or decorate the feeders.

Tip: Place feeders up high or hang it of reach of other critters.

Earth Day -  Hooray!

Earth Day is on the way, and Ryan, Luke, and Carly have a plan. If they manage to collect and recycle 5,000 aluminum cans, they can make enough money to buy some beautiful flowers for nearby Gilroy Park.
